But we hold this treasure in earthen vessels
that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us.

2 Corinthians 4:7

“I am an Artist and a Christian”.  My art investigates the truth of that statement.  It takes into question the ultimate nature of “being” an Artist and a Christian.  According to one definition an artist is “a person whose creative work shows sensitivity and imagination.”  The term Christian means, "belonging to Christ”.  My art explores this “sensitivity and imagination as one belonging to Christ”.

The product of this spiritual gift is the artwork.  I start the drawing or painting by using my experience of formal artistic rules such as composition, color theory and historical references, but the result moves beyond those visible and theoretical entity to be something deeply felt and inspired.  The act of painting creates worship between the artist-Christian and the product helps in developing a personal artistic-spiritual sensibility.

To be a better artist and Christian will never end for me, for living by being creative and investing in my spiritual development is the journey of life itself.  Success is measured by how well the spiritual journey is revealed through my art.  How the viewer is aware of this exploration and is provoked by the experience of viewing the art is an extension of the artwork’s essence and any gift that God has given me.

All these are the work of one and the same Spirit,
And he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

1 Corinthians 12:11
